The Thomas Family

“What in the world is in Gettysburg?!”, I asked my sister when she and her fam decided to put their home on the market. I had the convenience of living about three miles from her and being able to stop in anytime for a quick visit with my sweet-as-pie nieces. So it was bittersweet when they decided to pack up and head to the home of President Lincoln’s famous Gettysburg Address.

As much as we share in common (our good looks and witty humor), she much prefers the quiet rural life over a bustling neighborhood. And I don’t blame her. I, however, prefer to be close enough to society where I can have an onion I need for dinner delivered within 30 minutes to my doorstep (yes, I’ve really done that—thanks, Instacart!)

I’ve come to love making the trip through Gettysburg to her beautiful homestead. Downtown Gettysburg is always bustling with tourists in and out of mom + pop shops and restaurants. American flags hung on almost every red brick building in town. At night there are groups of ghost tours led by men in confederate clothing guiding tourists through the streets. It’s the only place I’ve ever been where it’s touristy but somehow homey too!

And Brittany is the ultimate hostess with the mostest. She will fill your belly with all things yummy, make interesting and fun conversation and send you home with fresh homemade sourdough bread. Did I mention her baking skills?? You can follow along with this MOSTess over on Instagram!

I happily obliged to make the trip for her family pictures at Gettysburg Battlefield. There are so many beautiful spots to shoot in at the battlefield and my brother-in-law, Justin, chose this spot specifically. As long as the light is good and the vibe is bumping, I’m down for wherever feels special for your family.

We may not be three miles apart anymore but we’ve never been closer. Hope you enjoy seeing these special hearts and faces as much as I do.
